1. Who we are
This website is operated by E&M GbR, Suitbertstraße 42, 51067 Cologne, Germany ("we", "us"). We are the controller of your personal data under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Contact: support@sorvelabooks.com

2. What data we collect

  • Order data: name, email address, billing address, order details and payment status. We do not see or store your full card details.
  • Technical data: IP address, browser type, device information and pages visited.
  • Marketing data: your email address, if you subscribe to our newsletter.
  • Communication: the content of any messages you send us.

3. Why we use it and on what legal basis

  • To process your order and deliver your book (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, performance of a contract).
  • To meet legal obligations such as tax and accounting rules (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR).
  • To run and secure our store (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, legitimate interest).
  • To send marketing emails and to measure and improve our advertising, only with your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw your consent at any time.

4. Service providers we use

  • Shopify (Shopify International Ltd., Ireland, and Shopify Inc., Canada): hosting of our store, order processing and email.
  • Pendora: delivery of your digital download.
  • Payment providers (e.g. Shopify Payments/Stripe, Klarna, Apple Pay, Google Pay): processing your payment.
  • Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd.: Meta Pixel and Conversions API, used only with your consent to measure the performance of our ads and to show relevant ads on Facebook and Instagram. Meta may process this data in the United States.

These providers process data on our behalf or as independent controllers under their own privacy policies.

5. International transfers
Some providers process data outside the EU, for example in the United States or Canada. Such transfers are based on adequacy decisions (including the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and the adequacy decision for Canada) or on EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

6. Cookies
We use necessary cookies to run the store. Analytics and marketing cookies, including the Meta Pixel, are only used after you have given your consent in our cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time via "Cookie preferences" at the bottom of every page.

7. How long we keep your data
Order and invoice data are kept for up to 10 years as required by German tax law. Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe. Other data is deleted once it is no longer needed.

8. Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your data, to data portability, and to object to processing based on legitimate interest. You can withdraw consent at any time. To exercise these rights, email support@sorvelabooks.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia (LDI NRW).

California residents: We do not sell your personal information.
